Carla Gutierrez


Carla is a Documentary Editor based in the NYC area. She edited When Two Worlds Collide which won a Special Jury Award in the World Documentary Competition at the Sundance Film Festival, the Oscar nominated film La Corona (HBO) and the Emmy nominated documentaries Reportero (POV) and Kingdom of Shadows (POV). Her latest work, Chavela, premiered at the Berlinale Film Festival where it won the 2nd place Audience Award. Carla’s work has screened at Sundance, Berlinale, SXSW, IDFA, Hot Docs, AFI, Full Frame, Los Angeles Film Festival and Ambulante and her films have been broadcast on HBO, POV, Independent Lens, Netflix, BBC, CBC, PBS World and the Sundance Channel. Carla has been a creative adviser for the Sundance Edit Lab, and a mentor for the Firelight Producers’ Lab. She received a Masters in Documentary Film from Stanford University.
